In May of this year I attended a Communications Day at Bond University. I took up the chance to attend as it gave me an opportunity to have a closer look at their facilities and learn more about their Film & Television faculty. I have heard many good things about studying Film & TV at Bond so I thought it would be a great day.
There was a small group of students from various schools, most were in years 10-11, myself and my classmate Nathalia were the only seniors there.
We were introduced to some really nice and also very interesting staff members from the Screen & Media departments, who essentially led us in to what an Arts Degree in Communication would look like at Bond Uni.
One of the early exercises we took part in was with Rob Layton, a Journalism Professor, who got us to walk around the campus with provided film equipment and capture and cut together a mock news article about a particular building on campus. It was a pretty proud moment for me, as my video floored everyone with its high professional quality, with Rob telling me “Umm, that’s ready for production, are you ready to start next week?”.
Since that Communications Day Bond University actually reached out to me and invited me to take a tour of their Film & Television department facilities. The tour was amazing, and the head of the program Dr Darren Fisher was incredibly nice and accommodating, and we had some amazing discussions about the future of film.
Not long after this the Office of Future Students at Bond contacted me with an offer of early enrolment, and I am happy to announce that I am officially enrolled in a Bachelor of Creative Arts commencing in 2027!
I am truly excited for the opportunities that are arising around me and forever grateful for the supportive parents and friends who have helped to carve a path for me.
